Food The Wood Duck feeds in ponds and sluggish streams. 90% of the food it eats is plant matter, especially duckweed.

Migration They spend their summers in the Northern United States and Southern Canada. During the winter, they fly south to Florida, the Gulf Coast, and Cuba.

Habitat Wooded Rivers, ponds, and swamps.

Nesting Up to 15 white eggs are laid in a tree cavity or nest box filled with feathers. Sometimes Wood Ducks nest 50 feet or more from the ground. When the young hatch, they jump from the nest to the ground. Once they reach water, they follow their mother; snapping turtles eat many of the young.American Kestrel
