Food The American Goldfinch eats a variety of seeds and also insects and berries.
Migration They summer in the Nothern United States and Southern Canada. They winter on the Pacific Coast and from the Great Lakes south to the Gulf Coast.
Habitat Bushy thickets and weedy grasslands
Nesting Females choose the nest site, usually in a hedge, bushy pasture, or a forked branch high in a tree. They weave a nest of plant fibers and line it with thistledown. 5 pale blue eggs occupy the nest. Young are raised on seeds partially digested by the parents and regurgitated for the young.
